Plans have been announced in Government today to form a single redress scheme for homeowners and tenants!

Unhappy tenants and homeowners will soon have a single redress scheme they can contact should they be unhappy about the condition of properties they live in, everything from broken boilers to cracks in walls the New Housing Complaints Resolution Service aims to offer a simple, single redress scheme to help people with unresolved disputes regarding problems in their homes – such as repairs and maintenance.

Currently the housing market has several different official complaint bodies for the different sectors of the market that are often complicated to navigate and difficult to understand for those wishing to register a grievance. A single resolution service should bring a stop to people having battle with their developer, builder or landlord and make it easier for them to seek compensation when it is due.

Communities Secretary Rt Hon James Brokenshire MP, said:

Creating a housing market that works for everyone isn’t just about building homes – it’s about ensuring people can get the help they need when something goes wrong.

But all too often the process can be confusing and overly bureaucratic, leaving many homeowners and tenants feeling like there is nowhere to go in the event of problems with their home.

The proposals I have announced today will help ensure all residents are able to access help when they need it, so disputes can be resolved faster, and people can get compensation where it’s owed.

This is big news for anyone that owns a property in Holborough Lakes, St Andrews park or Peters Village and every tenant, regardless of location.
